Medical Devices Provider saves €1.4 million with ISO 50001

Abbott Diagnostics is an Irish-based provider of in-vitro diagnostics products with around 70000 institutional customers in more than 100 countries. The company decided to implement an energy management system as it aligned with its culture to promote an environment that is greener, healthier and more sustainable.

Accredited certification to ISO 50001 has enabled Abbott Diagnostic Division Sligo to achieve a 40% reduction in CO2. The implementation has also resulted in an energy cost reduction of 36%, leading to an annual cost savings of €1.4 million. The cost of gaining certification was € 6000, and so the payback period was very short.
