Argentinian Energy company saves $271k with ISO 50001

Central Termoeléctrica Genelba’s power generation plant of Petrobras Argentina, is located in Marcos Paz, 50 km from Buenos Aires. It is an energy company specialising in the production of electricity. The driver for seeking certification to ISO 50001 was to minimise operational costs, ensure efficiency, and to demonstrate its social responsible credentials.

The implementation of ISO 50001 allowed the company to reduce its energy consumption by 26 billion BTU (7635 MWh) over a period of two years. This improvement resulted in a reduction of its operating costs of USD271,034 and a decrease of CO2 generation in 2,997 tonnes over the same period.
