Case Study

Using accreditation as a leverage for change

Independent Vascular Services (IVS) Ltd specialises in the provision of high quality, comprehensive vascular services to both NHS and private sector hospitals in England, UK.  In 2014 IVS became the UK’s first vascular laboratory to gain UKAS accreditation under the Improving Quality in Physiological Services (IQIPS) scheme.

IVS used feedback (or non-conformities) comments from the initial UKAS accreditation assessment report as a leverage for change within the organisation, leading to a substantial upgrade of its patient facilities at a number of sites.

UKAS accreditation has enhanced IVS’profile and identified them as market leaders among their peers. UKAS accreditation has resulted in IVS attracting outside investment from venture capitalists, thus allowing the business to expand. The full case study is available here.
