Gaining a competitive advantage by implementing and using ISO 9001

The effects of ISO 9001 certification were investigated with a survey of 1150 managers from 924 organisations in the USA (2002), comparing the performance of organisations with control groups that had not been ISO 9001 certified (Naveh and Marcus, 2005). Empirical evidence shows that there is a positive effect of ISO 9001 certification in the companies’ operational performance.
