Austrian ISO 14001 certified organisations demonstrated improved environmental performance

Research of ISO 14001 certified organisation in Austria (Schylander and Martinuzzi, 2007) concluded that ISO 14001 often leads to reduced environmental impact, especially in waste management. ISO 14001 also had a positive impact on the company’s image. The average payback time on an investment in an environmental management systems was less than two years.
