Australian firms enhance environmental performance and social and market positioning with ISO 14001 certification

Empirical data collected from a large-scale survey of Australian firms was analysed to research the perceived benefits (i.e. environmental, social, and market) following the adoption of ISO 14001 (Prajogo, Tang, and Lai, 2012).

The investigation concluded that the results indicate that external motives for ISO 14001 certification enhance social and market positioning, whereas internal motives better contribute to achieving improved environmental performance.
