QMS certification enhances business performance and delivers financial benefits

Research based on over 300 Taiwanese companies across the manufacturing and service industries concluded “after summarizing the empirical results, we arrive at the following statement: ISO accreditation can enhance the business performance of an enterprise” (Wu & Chen, 2012). The Balanced Scorecard and Activity Based Costing methods were used to compare performance between companies that had achieved ISO 9000 certification and companies that had not. The benefits highlighted by this research include reduction in costs and efficiency savings in processes resulting in increased profitability, increased customer satisfaction and improved company reputation.
