Research based on a sample of 211 US listed manufacturing firms with OHSAS 18001 certification (Lo, Pagell, Fana, Wiengarten and Yeung, 2014) concluded that certification leads to significant increases in performance on safety, as well as sales growth, labour productivity and profitability.
