Map Ta Phut Olefins Company Limited (MOC), a subsidiary of SCG Chemicals, produces two main chemicals; ethylene and propylene.

Given that energy is the most significant operating cost, the company developed an energy efficiency improvement strategy that identified ISO:50001 implementation as a tool for the development and standardisation of the operating process.

Since certification was achieved, MOC has reduced energy consumption from 18,466 MJ/Ton olefins in 2012 to 17,093 MJ/Ton olefins in 2015. Energy costs havereduced by more than USD $10 million over four years and CO2 release has fallen to 64,000 Tons.
